There are two main entrances to the church on the north and south side of the building. Upon entering the lobby greeters are available to direct you to worship or Sunday school.

Visitors

As part of our worship service we recognize and value our visitors.  You will be given the option to stand, comment, or remain in your seat.  But what whatever you choose you will be greeted and welcomed by our church family. A visitor’s card will be given to you and we ask that you complete it and place in the offering basket. You will receive additional information from our church, a note during the week, or possibly a phone call welcoming you back.

Questions? There are greeters at every entrance as you enter on Sunday mornings that can help you find your way. They can also answer any questions you might have about First Christian.

Sunday Worship

Sunday worship begins at 9:45 a.m. Sunday school for adults, youth, and children begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. There are greeters at every door as you enter on Sunday mornings who can help you find your way. You will be handed a bulletin that will give you all the information you will need to participate in the worship service. It will also include our weekly announcements.

Service Length and Style

We have one blended (traditional/contemporary) worship service filled with high praise, inspiration, and reverence for God. At First Christian, you will find a praise team, praise dancers, as well as a sanctuary choir, male chorus, women's choir, and youth and children’s choir. We praise God each Sunday with a blend of both contemporary and traditional songs. Service begins at 9:45 a.m. and typically ends at 11:30 a.m. We have only one service.

Dress

First Christian has no dress code. Suits, jeans, or casual, wear whatever you feel comfortable in as you worship God.

Children and Teens

We currently allow children and teens to lead the Worship Service on the 2nd Sunday of each month. As we grow we will return to them meeting in the Chapel on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays at 9:45 a.m.

Holy Communion

We practice open communion which allows persons other than members of First Christian to receive Holy Communion. You do not need to be a member of First Church to participate. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

Mode of Baptism

We practice three modes of baptism; sprinkle, pouring of water, and immersion. We honor requests for baptism in any of these modes.  Each mode brings out a part of the rich and diverse symbolism given to baptism by the Bible.  Each is a form of washing which symbolizes the washing away of sin (Acts 2:38; 22:16; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Hebrews 10:22; 1 Peter 3:21).  Being totally buried in water and raised from it is also a powerful symbol of our burial and resurrection with Christ (Romans 6:3-5; Colossians 2:12) and of being born anew of water and the Spirit (John 3:3-5; Titus 3:5).  Pouring or sprinkling water upon the candidate’s head also signifies God’s pouring out of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:9-10: Luke 3:21-22; Acts 2:38; 19:1-7).

Do I have to join your church?

No, you do not have to join, you are always welcome to worship among us, participate in any of our activities and attend any of our Bible study groups. Membership is a choice and commitment which we want you to make only when the time is right for you. You can become a member by Baptism or by Profession of Faith. We believe that the Holy Spirit works within other churches and if you have previously been baptized we do not “re-baptize” you.
