What We Believe

There is but one living and true God, everlasting, in spirit, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in unity of this Godhead there are three persons, coeternal and coequal persons of one substance, power, and eternity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 

Christ was truly crucified, dead, buried and did rise again from the dead on the third day, and took again his body in glorified form, with all things belonging to the perfection of man's nature, by which he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God until he returns to judge all men at the last day.

The Holy Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation; so that whatsoever is not contained in Scripture, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man or woman that it should be believed as an article of faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation. We affirm that the Bible is the very Word of God; it is our ultimate authority.  It is also the divine revelation from God to certain men and women and it is where truth begins.  We believe that the Bible in its original manuscript is inerrant and infallible and is practical and profitable in our daily lives and eternal destiny. 

There are two Sacraments ordained of Christ our Lord in the Gospel; that is to say, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism symbolizes what happened when we were saved.  It symbolizes the Holy Spirit’s work of regeneration. It symbolizes our new life of union with and identification with Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial to Christ’s saving work on the cross.  He paid a price that we could not pay ourselves. The Lord’s Supper is the regular use of the bread and cup to symbolically commemorate with other believers the saving work of Christ on the cross.  The bread represents Christ’s substitutionary death in our place. The cup represents Christ’s fulfilling of the old covenant sacrifice system. 

The condition of mankind after the fall of Adam is such that he cannot save himself by his own natural strength and works. Consequently, we have no power to do good works, pleasing and acceptable to God, without the grace of God working through us.  We are completely dependent on God for salvation and to produce works pleasing to God.

The Son, who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took man's nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the Godhead and Manhood, were joined together in one person, never to be divided; whereof is one Christ, 100% God and 100% Man, who truly suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile humanity to God the Father, and to be a sacrifice, and pay for the sins of humanity.   Because of Jesus’ death we have an advocate; a reconciler and free access to God, and relationship with God eternally. He is the one that is coeternal and coexists with the father and Holy Spirit.  He is our Lord and Savior, our deliverer; humanity’s only hope. 

We are an independent Methodist church with no formal connection with the United Methodist Church, African Methodist Episcopal Church or the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  

The Holy Spirit is of one substance, majesty, and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God. The Holy Spirit should not be taken lightly.  He is as much God as the God the Father and God the Son.  He is coeternal and coexistent with the Father and the Son.  He is the indwelling Spirit that provides victory in the Christian life, development of Christian fruit, and the ability to win against the works of Satan.

We are declared righteous before God only for the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by faith, and not for our own works, race, culture, or earthly good standing. Therefore, we are justified by faith alone and not because of anything we do. God can declare us to be Just because He imputes Christ’s Righteousness to us and he justifies us through our faith in Christ
